Pioneer species are species which are the first to colonize previously damaged ecosystems. They then begin a chain of ecological succession that leads to a more biodiverse steady-state ecosystem.
climax community is a term that means the final stage of succession. The community(biome region) remaining relatively unchanged until destroyed by an event such as fire or human interference.
Example.
1. Lichens have the ability to give off acid which will then degrade the rock to form soil.
2.Once the soil is in the biome, the moss can now start to grow in the area. As this moss decays, it leads to nutrients being added to the soil such as organic matter.
3.As time goes on and more rock starts to decay, the soil become thicker which leads to the formation of weeds and grasses
4.When this soil is thick enough, bushes and small trees can finally start to grow
5.Then the first type of trees can start to grow
6.When this soil has fully developed the deciduous trees now have the chance to finally start growing in the soil.
After a while, these trees will be the most dominant ones in the area because they can grow tall and capture the suns energy.
Then the new plants and flowers and organisms will adapt from the main Primary Succession.

Secondary Succession Example
Lets say for example a part of the temperate deciduous forest burns down, then what?
All the tree and plants have burned down, the remaining animals have either died, or left the area and have to find/adapt to a new habitat.
All is left in the area is organic matter that has been left from the burned down ashes.
Basically the first thing that will come back is that the weeds will start to grow back.
Once the weeds grow back, then it will be a base for new organisms to grow back.
Then over time the primary succession will restart.
