Asian Gypsy MothThis moth brings one of the largest impacts of defoliation of deciduous trees in the northern hemisphere. Defoliation means that the moth causes the trees leaves to fall off.
The moth is classified as a pest, and its larvae consume the leaves of over 500 species of trees, shrubs and plants. The gypsy moth is one of the most destructive pests of hardwood trees |
Screwworm
The primary screwworm is another parasitic species. Its larvae are renowned for eating and infesting the flesh of living organisms, which are mostly warm-blooded animals. Their larvae cause infestation of maggots, in lesions(a region in an organ that has suffered damage) or other wounds and injuries that the host animal may have.

These invasive species both have affected this biome in negative ways. The Asian gypsy moth and the screwworm are both very dangerous to any biome. They both are parasitic species and can reproduce very quickly. The moth destroys trees by eating all the leaves and the wood. The screw worm is horrible for the animals in the biome. The screw worm larvae infect the flesh of a living organism and slowly infest them and take over the organisms body.
